Went here for my birthday and it was absolutely fantastic! The entire experience from walking down the stairs to the speakeasy, the warm elegant atmosphere, and the amazing food and drinks were perfect! I got the stuffed mushrooms, chicken piccata and cheesecake. The staff was extremely attentive and gave great recommendations. Truly an amazing experience! Will be coming back!

Nicely decorated, dark speakeasy type of bar / restaurant. We sat at bar and had nice conversations with bartenders. You need reservations even for bar seating. The food was ok. The meatballs and pasta were good but my chicken Caesar was less something special than Caesar ingredients with a chicken piccata on top. Drinks were well made and tasty.

Wow! All of these 5 star reviews are spot on! It's hard to believe this place just opened last week. Everything was FANTASTIC and top notch! From walking in and being warmly welcomed, to the amazing ambiance and vibe (if you've been in that basement before, you will be amazed!), to lovely selection of drinks, and intriguing menu. Everyone has had Italian food before, this isn't that. Unique dishes, clever combinations, masterfully prepared and presented. To get all of that at a single place? Pretty rare! To get it all so conveniently located on the square? Start making your reservations soon, this place is gonna be "the place" very quickly. Lots of great pictures on these reviews already. Our food and drinks were just as lovely. I didn't see a picture of the bananas foster prepared table side, so added that here. Dinner and a show! Really can't express how impressive the experience was! Well done, and thank you Red!

Exceeded our expectations! We don’t have many places in Denton that have all the things dialed in just right. Not to hate on our other great establishments, I’m just saying we don’t have a lot of FINE dining. Red: Italian feels upscale without being fussy. This basement holds a lot of memories for those of us that grew up here and now to be 50 years old and back in this space with a whole new look - it just feels right. It feels like we are all grown up and now we are having wine and cocktails instead of shots. Not that there is anything wrong with shots, I just can’t handle them like I used to. The food was fantastic. We had the chicken Marsala, the bruschetta and the stuffed mushrooms. My only teeny tiny critique was that there was a bit too much amaretto in my banana foster. But people… THEY HAVE TABLESIDE BANANS FOSTER. It was really an overall delightful experience. 10/10 for sure. Grab a date, someone special, or take a close group of friends and you won’t be disappointed. Afterwards go up to Ruby Rodeo and dance off those carbs!

Red Italian is exactly the kind of place Denton’s Square needed. The food was fantastic, but the ambiance is what really sets this place apart. From the moment you step down the stairway and pass through the heavy door, you feel like you’ve discovered something hidden. The space has an almost 1920s speakeasy feel—intimate, warm and unexpected—with incredible Italian food and seriously good craft cocktails. It’s the kind of atmosphere that plenty of restaurants in Dallas would be jealous of. The staff is still new and finding their rhythm, but you can already see they have a great foundation to build on. Everyone was welcoming, and the overall experience far exceeded what I expected from a restaurant that has just opened. Great food, great cocktails and one of the coolest new dining spaces I’ve experienced in the area. Do not pass up this new highlight on the Square in Denton. Red Italian is absolutely worth discovering.
