First let me apologize to Dez and Mel for my mother in law. She was out of line with her behavior/comments. Now for my review. This place was amazing. First Mel made sure are party was well accommodated. Dez our server did a great job with our larger party. The food was great. The chicken fried steak was awesome. Everyone really enjoyed their food. The only thing I had that wasn't great was the mac and cheese. It was watery and a little bland. Everything I mean everything else was great. We came from California for my daughter's wedding Fri and celebrated my birthday Sat. Thank you for a great experience.

Parking is a pain…BUT this was so good. Swiss Mushroom Burger add Blue cheese was SOOO GOOD. $15 Country fried steak was perfect. $18 Fried pickles amazing. $9 (that tray was full, late picture sorry) Don’t get me started on the French fries. Very happy with our experience.

Ever in search of the perfect Chicken Fried Steak, we drove to the Historic Denton Town Square and Cartwright's. Very friendly & attentive waitresses. They were happy to take my special requests of light breading & light salt. There was actually very tasty round steak lightly flour-breaded, tasting like it was cooked in fresh oil. Smothered with good cream gravy. I chose the excellent mash potatoes with more gravy, and unremarkable corn. Nice yeast rolls & real butter inclusive. Iced tea was fresh and cooling Probably the only thing one could improve would be a few more passes thru the tenderizer for the beef prior to cooking. But the beef was thick and flavorful! Overall, well worth the drive & it will be a regular for all our Denton trips! Thanks, girls!

We loved, loved our food and experience at Cartwright’s. I got the chicken fried steak, which they are apparently known for. And that’s well deserved. The gravy was super good, the chicken friend steak was good, the fries amazing, the roll delicious. With such a large portion, my wife graciously helped me eat it—which she was more than happy to do! Before we even left, told lots of people that this is a place they need to visit next time they go out! Oh, and we had great, speedy service!

Food is great. Nice staff. Could be friendlier. Waitress was rushing me when the restaurant wasn’t even busy. I wasn’t even finished with my food when she asked me if I needed a to-go box. I’m was just taking my time and unwinding from work. The tables are placed close together for you to hear other people’s business.
